Validated by EDI, this work-based, distance learning qualification will teach the candidate about hazards in the workplace, the risks arising from them and the law relating to health and safety in the workplace.

Overview

This course will cover:

• General UK Health and Safety legislation (COSHH, fire regulations, etc)
• Identifying hazards and risk assessments
• Health and safety at work
• European legislation

Assessment

Assessment is based on 1-1 contact in the workplace with a dedicated assessor.  Learners will be provided with a series of workbooks for the programme.  These contain the knowledge they require to achieve the assessment requirements and the activities allow them to practice their skills and test their learning.

Progress Route

There is a wide range of industry-specific NVQs and other vocational qualifications that include aspects of health and safety.  For example, learners could progress onto NVQs in Care, Manufacturing, Distribution, Storage and Warehousing, Retail Operations, Learning and Support Services and Hospitality.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must be working or have access to a work placement to gather evidence for their portfolio.

Additional Information
